The excitement kept building, as records were shattered! ArtSpan’s Annual Juried Art Auction was a dizzying night of celebration, with a dose of serious competition.

We are still pinching ourselves at the success of the evening. We blew past our dreamiest dream-goal and raised over $275,000, more than twice the previous record!

The chemistry was perfect: a collection of stellar artwork, a crowd of eager patrons, a welcoming atmosphere of fun and, of course, plentiful food and drink! But the magic ingredient that made it bubble over was a commitment to helping ArtSpan expand our work, and open the ArtSpan Onondaga Art Center.

A jury of art professionals selected 130 artworks for auction. The generous contributions by member artists is a huge motivation for us to continue providing them with valuable service.

Renee Richardson conducted the evening with a blend of warmth, humor and persistence as our host and auctioneer. The well-loved radio personality kept things fun, and kept the bids coming.

Two special items had bidders on the edge of their seats. The first, a unique cityscape by Lucky Rapp, soared to $12,000 after an impromptu onstage interview with the artist, setting a single piece record for an ArtSpan Auction. Minutes later, a rare commission by Paul Madonna, depicting our new building on Onondaga Avenue, hit the same high mark.

A truly remarkable evening. We are so grateful to our donating artists, volunteers,
and buyers!
