COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

ARTIST MIXERS
Have you ever wondered what it would be like for sketch comedians to jam with visual artists? Try ArtSpan’s Sketch N’ Sketch Artist Mixer at Z Space. How about asking poets to get inspired by artwork in a gallery, then recite those poems to visual artists who react with live drawings? Come to ArtSpan’s Art, Readings, & Reactions event at Modern Eden Gallery. Dive into assemblage using found objects at SCRAP, experiment with book making equipment at SF Center for the Book, or get lost in a collective collage project at Art Attack SF. It’s all part of ArtSpan’s Artist Mixer series.

COMMUNITY MURAL PROJECTS
Our Community Mural Project turns strangers into friends as they collaborate to execute a design by a local artist. Adults who haven’t painted for years reconnect with the joy of getting messy with a paint brush, and kids just jump right in. Look for us at events like Sunday Streets and the Noise Pop 20th Street Block Party.

ArtSpan’s community engagement programs are keeping San Francisco artful, and we want YOU to be a part of it. Join ArtSpan’s mailing list to find out where we might pop up with an art event near you, or in a neighborhood you have been curious to explore.

PUBLIC ART PROJECTS

ArtSpan is helping local artists to make large-scale impact on the city. Really large!

In our biggest public art project to date, 38 ArtSpan artists created original murals in the future retail area of the Salesforce Transit Center. This ambitious partnership with Lincoln Properties Company West covered over 10,000 square feet of windows and will be enjoyed by thousands of commuters every day.

Two partnerships with PlaceLab are bringing art into unique settings in the city. We consulted on the design and art selection for the Dogpatch Arts Plaza, and we are managing a muralscape on Hickory Alley in Hayes Valley that will span five buildings.
